Cancer Moon in What House?

topic posted Wed, September 7, 2005 - 9:02 PM by  Angel
Hi there! I'll use this to introduce myself. My Cancer moon is in the 8th house. Although I've studied astrology for some time, I seem to subconsciously avoid taking a close look at this. Perhaps my arrival here means it's time for me to look at it. :) I'd welcome any comments on that placement. If it helps, my sun and rising are both Sagi.

Best regards...

this placement sounds neat to me. because cancerian moons are so intuitive and sensitive, and the placement is in the eighth house, the house of pluto and scorpio....

are you psychic? he he. just a wild guess.

heres a bit from one of my astrological books:

      moon in the eighth house

you have and inherent need for security. you are often psychic (ha!) interested in matters that others consider morbid, such as life after death. affection, love and sex are very important to you; if the moon has very difficult aspects, you may misuse your sexuality. money could come through your partner, your mother, or women in general. often you are involved in handling other peoples money.

others with moon in the 8th: general george patton, caesar chavez, alfred hitchcock, playwright noel coward.

      interesting.

since cancer is naturally ruled by the moon, it seems that you take this description and exaggerate it on the security, and psychic/sensitivity parts. also with the affection, love, and sex.....does this ring true for you?

Thanks, Jenn. That's very interesting and pretty dead on. I'm a writer and my primary genre is Horror, so the whole interest in morbid matters is very strong in my personality. As for the security, yes. I am extremely independent (a la typical Sagi) because it's the only way I feel I can truly be secure. On the other hand, affection, love and sex are very important to me.

Thanks for that! It helps me to see how the moon is affecting me. :)

Hee! That's awesome. :) Nice to meet you, Mel.

I looked at your chart in your photos listing and, though we have sun, moon and rising in common, the other near planets differ.

However, I believe you're a Tiger in Chinese Astrology, right? So am I. :)

I recently met a man whose birthday is 12 days before mine, so he and I have extremely similar charts. It's been fascinating getting to know him and seeing how we differ or are the same. It really makes it hard not to believe that there's something to astrology.

      Take care!

    Here's some generic information:

    Eighth house
The Moon in the eighth house projects its influence by emphasizing the feeling that security is of the utmost importance. You have a saving instinct for the future, almost to the extent of self-denial. You have a strong sense of duty and obligation to others. It is not unlikely that you might become a part of some movement or cause dedicated to the improvement or uplifting of people en masse. You are very sensitive to social currents and social demands. In some instances, this position may indicate one who can or does manipulate money from others. Often it signifies the likelihood of inheriting money.

    Cancer
A Cancer Moon gives a strong drive for recognition and acceptance. You are highly sensitive and creative, if somewhat given to brooding and moodiness.
You rarely go out of your way to garner new information, but once something sinks into your mind, it is indelibly impressed upon it. Everything that you experience is held in feeling memory. You let your heart rule your head, and you can have trouble making rational, detached decisions. Yet your intuition is quite keen, and you would be smart to rely on it. You have an almost psychic ability to "tune in" to what other people are thinking and feeling. By nature, you're suspicious and distrusting, although, surprisingly, you tend to almost naively trust your own feelings and gut hunches.

The Cancer influence is often far too sensitive surroundings. This over-sensitive nature can be a positive or a negative; on the positive side, you are no doubt very intuitive; on the negative side, you are moody and subject to emotional upsets. This thin-skinned attitude toward outside influences causes you to pick up negative vibrations from others. You are frequently moody and prone to having problems in personal relationships. Often, Cancer Moon people wear their heart on their sleeve, but like so many of them, you may have a habit of hiding your true feelings and strong emotions under a rather hard shell.

You have an especially strong love of home and family, and you staunchly protect your personal security. In Cancer, the emotions reflected by the Moon are sensitive to matters that affect people as a whole, the "universal parent." Towards loved ones, you are gentle, peaceful, and romantic. You have a nurturing attitude toward your family and to those you consider under your very broad protective "wing." Security is of primary importance to you, but often you feel your life lacks the comfort of inherent stability. Things that offer a sense of protection become very important: money, material belongings, family, home, country, and traditions, may all be included in this. Change, risk-taking, relocating, and opinions differing from your own are things that pose a challenge to your security, and are usually rejected accordingly. You have a great deal of apprehension regarding matters outside of your own personal control.

*my moon in Cancer is in the 11th house*

This is fascinating, Wyoming, thanks! It all seems to conflict very nicely with my Sagi leanings (in my sun and rising signs). That explains so much of my own inner conflicts. I appreciate you taking the time to post that.

      :)

Sun and moon in cancer here, moon 10th house. Its always been a huge matter of importance to feel like i am really seen in my work, or that part of me goes into what i do. I also feel like it is good to have a product, be it tangible or intangible...maybe that's the capricorn connection. I often end up in the service industry...painting houses, was good to work with my hands and make someone's home a nicer place to live. Was an assistant manager for starbucks, and it was awesome to be in a position to develop people and be as good a role model for integrity and service as i could. Am a bodyworker now.

Moon in 9th House: "You are always restless and looking for new experiences. Later in your life you may travel a lot just to experience as much of the world as possible. However, your view of the world is colored strongly by your emotions, and your thinking may not be objective and clear. The Moon indicates that you really hold on to whatever you learn, so you must be very careful about what you do learn. If you want to see the world, try not to be limited by the ideas you bring with you from earliest childhood." ... "The Moon was found in the ninth house at the time of birth. Your higher mind has the potential to expertly reflect the teachings of elevated knowledge that you may receive throughout your life. You will have an ability to quickly adjust to varying conditions. You are endowed with a clever and resourceful imagination, and a mind which is receptive to ideals, higher thoughts, and perhaps even metaphysical matters. Throughout life you are going to solve many critical situations by your ingenious and highly inventive mind which has an abundance of new and humane plans and ideas." (from www.astro.com)

Cancer moon 5th house here, and yes, I am psychic, not solely because of the Cancer moon though, although it does give a predisposition for such, if other things back it up. Also, Pisces ascendant, moon square Neptune, quincunx N. Node, trine ascendant, conjunct Uranus, sextile Jupiter & Sun.

The 5th House Cancer Moon trines Pisces Ascendant and trines 8th house Uranus in Scorpio. Uranus and moon also trine to make an Ascendant Grand trine, I pick up many psychic impressions with this positive, watery energy field.

    Same here: 8th House.

"This person's emotional nature -- moods, feelings and caring tendencies -- is introspective, emotional, protective and wants [sic] inner and outer security. Most often this manifests in the area of life dealing with sex, death, the occult and other difficult to grasp topics."
