My ... love-nature? Oh, my. Um. Nurturing. Fussing. Enthusiastic. I'm very invested in the getting-to-know-you / try-to-scare-them-off phase because I don't want to sink too far into love and then get hurt -- I'd rather they run early. I reveal a lot, and I make a lot of observations about them. Do they scream and run when I hold up a mirror both to them and to myself? I negotiate a fair amount. I test the level of reciprocity. Is this person a keeper and, if so, for what niche in my life?
If they present accurately -- be the person they say they are, do what they say they're going to do -- and I'm pretty much theirs ... all else being positive.

I am attracted to someone tender and perhaps a bit shy, someone who can have confidence yet who doesn't show it off (in intimacy I'm sweet, caring, nurturing and all that was said earlier, only I'm a Gemini sun so in social contextes I'm more "out there" and showing it off, which can off course be confusing, hello, welcome to the world of Geminis who have a tender heart, not that Geminis don't but...)
My moon in Cancer makes me resonate or be compassionate very easily to people in general, but when it comes to the person that is in my heart and thoughts I surrender and give myself away, pretty much, at first at least, then the question of trust comes in...
(Let's not forget the Gemini sun...I trust easily, I'm impulsive...then comes the time when my trust is being tested and well, basically it's all about if I feel I receive what I need, which is simple but love and attention, not spoiled rotten but cared for...
But of course, I have quite an idealistic view of my partner...so, the steaks are high and he's only human...
I have got to know and feel that I'm very important to him, vital.
That doesn't mean exclusive in relationships around us though.
It means I am special to him.
But I'm in trouble cause I have a conjunction with my Venus...

Story - yes, I imagine a Moon-Venus conjunction in Cancer would make you especially sensitive and sweet! Wow. Would it be fair to assume you bruise easily?
Anyhow, thank you so much for your kind responses. I now have a little more insight to your natures. As a Scorpio Moon myself, I have long discovered that I fit best with other Water Moons. However, I've only had close relationships with Pisces Moons. But for a while now I have been crushing on a man with Cancer Moon, and I guess I'm trying to "figure him out" before I approach (a Scorpio Moon must always feel she is in control, lol ;) ) It is not really in my nature to apprach too strongly, and I do think I have a sweet, kind and friendly demeanor, but I do get, well... *determined* once I've set my mind on something (or someone), and I guess I worry that it might not take much to scare him off? -

bingo.
what i most often discover is that their interest was only fleeting, or their willingness to contribute mutually is weak, and therefore not enough for me to continue to invest myself in emotionally. That doesn't mean they can't be part of my life, they just won't be the one i open up all the way to. There is actually only one person so far that i feel i've given my heart to completely, and that is the father of my children (double scorpio). He doesn't want my heart anymore (just my ass...) but that doesn't stop me from giving it. It means more to me that we created children together than i think it means to a lot of people--and because of this i have not truly let go of the love between us.
such is the curse of the cancer moon...
